Rhenus Group has introduced dedicated logistics services for the new-energy and e-commerce sectors in China through its new office in Fuzhou, Fujian province, extending its operations in southern China and supporting international supply chains.

The facility will be the company’s first office in Greater China to establish new-energy logistics and e-commerce as its two core business areas. Rhenus said it has already signed agreements with businesses in both sectors, although the customers and contractual details have not been disclosed.

Located in Fujian, a major manufacturing region for new-energy products, the Fuzhou office will act as a hub for developing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) logistics projects and supporting customers across Greater China.

Europe will serve as the principal trade lane for these activities, followed by South America. The company also identified Xiamen as an important outbound port for BESS shipments, connecting manufacturers in the region with international markets.

The new office currently operates with a dedicated team of 18 employees, with further recruitment planned through the end of the first quarter of 2027. Its logistics services will cover transportation, warehousing, customs clearance and last-mile delivery for customers in the new-energy sector.

Carol He, General Manager of Rhenus Logistics Southern China, said the expansion strengthens the company’s presence in Fujian and its ability to support manufacturers operating in international supply chains.

European logistics network to support e-commerce shipments

Alongside its new-energy activities, the Fuzhou office will provide logistics services for Chinese e-commerce businesses targeting European markets.

Rhenus plans to use its European subsidiaries and existing transport infrastructure to provide customs clearance, warehousing and inland distribution. The company’s ALS customs brokerage operations and Contargo network will support these services, including combined barge-and-truck and rail-and-truck transport arrangements across Europe.

The offering will also draw on Rhenus warehouse facilities in Germany, France, Switzerland and Spain, supporting bonded storage, customs processing and final-mile distribution.

Additional services will include assistance with European import and product compliance requirements, covering areas such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), value-added tax, Extended Producer Responsibility registration, battery passports and packaging regulations.

Eva Huang, Fuzhou Branch Manager at Rhenus Logistics, said the office will focus on developing tailored logistics solutions for new-energy customers through its specialist local team.

Cliff Xu, Regional Director of Greater China at Rhenus Air & Ocean, said the Fuzhou opening brings the company’s office network in Greater China to 16 locations.

The expansion adds dedicated new-energy and e-commerce capabilities to Rhenus’ regional network, linking Chinese manufacturing and export activities with its international freight forwarding, customs and distribution operations.
