GXO expands Asia Pacific logistics network with new Malaysia hub

GXO Logistics has opened a new logistics hub in Medini, Malaysia, expanding its operations across Asia Pacific and strengthening its presence in the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone.

The facility is located within one of Southeast Asia’s major manufacturing and trade corridors, offering access to ports, airports and industrial centres in southern Malaysia and Singapore. According to GXO, the site combines the benefits of a Free Trade Zone with regional transport connections, allowing customers to position inventory closer to manufacturing operations and end markets.

The new hub is designed to serve businesses operating in the technology and advanced industrial sectors. It is already functioning as a regional logistics centre for a global supplier of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, supporting supply chain activities in an industry with significant regional production and distribution requirements.

Supporting regional manufacturing supply chains

The Medini facility forms part of GXO’s expansion strategy in Asia Pacific, where the company is developing logistics capabilities to support customers operating across multiple markets.

Its location within the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone provides access to manufacturing clusters and international trade infrastructure on both sides of the Malaysia–Singapore border. GXO said the facility is intended to offer customers greater flexibility in inventory management and regional distribution while supporting operational resilience.

“Asia Pacific continues to be one of the most dynamic growth markets for GXO,” said Michael Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of the Americas and Asia Pacific at GXO.

Jacobs said the opening reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its logistics services in high-growth markets, with the new facility providing connections to important manufacturing, technology and trade centres.

The company is also evaluating additional capabilities for the site, including emerging warehouse technologies that could improve supply chain visibility and customer collaboration. GXO has not announced a timetable for introducing these capabilities.

Scott Copeland, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at GXO, highlighted the importance of inventory positioning as technology and advanced manufacturing activities expand across the region.

“With access to Singapore and southern Malaysia’s key ports and manufacturing hubs, our new Medini site gives customers a strategic base to scale efficiently and serve both regional and global markets,” Copeland said.

The company has not disclosed the facility’s floor area, investment value or operational capacity. The opening adds to GXO’s existing Asia Pacific operations, with the Medini site focused on supporting technology-related and advanced industrial supply chains.
