Lufthansa Cargo adds emergency service for priority shipments

Lufthansa Cargo has added a new emergency service to its modular product portfolio, targeting critical shipments that require priority transport and dedicated handling across the journey.
The Add-on Service “Emergency” is available at more than 200 stations across the Lufthansa Group network. It is designed for both planned and unexpected urgent cargo, including spare parts, machinery, pharmaceuticals and medical samples.
Customers can book the service at short notice, up to the applicable Latest Acceptance Time, subject to capacity. Lufthansa Cargo said shipments using the service receive its highest transport priority.
Dedicated monitoring at major hubs
Emergency shipments are specifically identified and monitored throughout the transport chain, with additional supervision at Lufthansa Cargo’s hubs in Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna.
In Frankfurt, cargo is handled around the clock through the time:matters Courier Terminal in Cargo City North. Direct apron access and dedicated handling processes are intended to reduce transfer distances and support priority handling.
A 24-hour customer service team, operating in English and German, acts as a single point of contact and monitors shipments during transportation. Lufthansa Cargo said the process is designed to identify potential irregularities early and allow corrective action where required.
Customers can also follow shipments through the carrier’s eTracking service.
Emergency service available through eBooking
The new Lufthansa Cargo emergency service can be booked through the carrier’s eBooking platform when capacity is available.
Where suitable capacity cannot be found online, customers can contact the 24-hour customer service team or their local sales representative to identify alternative transport options.
The service is available with General Cargo, Dangerous Goods, Passive Temp Support and Vulnerables products, combined with the td.Flash and td.Zoom speed options.
It also includes a money-back guarantee. Under the applicable terms and conditions, the guarantee applies when a shipment is not available for collection within six hours of its specified Time of Availability.
Emergency becomes the sixth service in Lufthansa Cargo’s Add-on Services portfolio. The other options are Sustainable Choice, Personal Supervision, smartULD, toDoor and Insurance.
