Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) recorded its highest monthly container throughput in October 2026, handling 109,341 TEUs and extending a series of consecutive monthly records at Jordan’s main container gateway.

The October performance marked the fourth consecutive month in which the terminal surpassed 100,000 TEUs. Throughput reached 101,900 TEUs in July, exceeded 104,000 TEUs in August and increased to 107,803 TEUs in September, before reaching the latest record in October.

According to ACT, the terminal handled more than 500,000 TEUs over the past five months, reflecting sustained container activity and demand for its services from domestic and regional customers. October’s throughput was approximately 1.4% higher than September’s previous record, indicating a further increase in monthly cargo volumes.

During October, the terminal served 59 vessels and handled 15,268 TEUs of transit cargo. These volumes underline Aqaba’s role in supporting cargo movements beyond Jordan’s domestic market, providing maritime connectivity for neighbouring countries and regional supply chains.

Landside activity also remained substantial, with ACT processing 47,814 truck transactions during the month, equivalent to an average of more than 1,500 per day. The level of truck activity highlights the importance of road transport connections in moving containers between the terminal and inland destinations.

“Achieving this milestone month after month reflects a culture of operational excellence and a constant focus on our customers,” said José Rueda, Chief Executive Officer of Aqaba Container Terminal.

Rueda said the terminal would continue focusing on service reliability, operational standards and future investment to support shipping lines, cargo owners and transport partners using Aqaba.

The latest figures extend a period of rising monthly throughput at ACT, with container volumes increasing in each month from July through October. The terminal has reiterated its commitment to maintaining operational efficiency, safety and sustainable growth as it serves Jordan’s importers, exporters and regional transit markets.
