Globus Maritime takes delivery of new Ultramax bulker

Globus Maritime Limited has taken delivery of the Glbs Thalia, a newly built Ultramax dry bulk carrier constructed in Japan, as the Nasdaq-listed shipping company continues its fleet renewal programme.
The vessel was built by Nihon Shipyard and has a carrying capacity of approximately 64,000 dwt. Its acquisition was originally announced in August 2023, with delivery completed in November 2026.
The Glbs Thalia represents the fifth Ultramax newbuilding delivered to Globus Maritime under its fleet modernisation programme. The company said the addition of newer tonnage is intended to improve fleet efficiency and strengthen its capabilities in the international dry bulk transportation market.
Athanasios Feidakis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Globus Maritime, described the delivery as another step in the company’s fleet development strategy.
“Our fleet renewal strategy continues to remain firmly focused on investing in high-quality, commercially competitive tonnage well positioned to meet the evolving demands of the global shipping industry,” said Feidakis.
Following the latest delivery, Globus Maritime reported a fleet of 11 dry bulk carriers with an aggregate carrying capacity of approximately 808,622 dwt.
The company transports a range of dry bulk commodities, including iron ore, coal, grain, steel products, cement and alumina. Its fleet renewal strategy focuses on incorporating modern vessels into its operations while pursuing selective fleet expansion.
