Boluda Towage expands offshore operations with Muller Dordrecht acquisition

Boluda Towage has acquired full ownership of Dutch maritime services company Muller Dordrecht, expanding its capabilities in offshore towage, heavy transport and specialised marine projects. The acquisition adds a fleet of specialised tugs and barges to the Spanish group’s operations, strengthening its presence in a segment of the maritime services market that requires dedicated equipment and technical expertise.

Under the new ownership structure, Muller Dordrecht will operate as Boluda Muller Towage, maintaining its focus on offshore towage and marine project services worldwide. Its activities will continue alongside the existing operations of Boluda Towage Europe, with access to the wider group’s international network and operational resources.

Founded in 1918, Muller Dordrecht has developed its business around offshore and coastal towage, heavy transport and technically demanding marine projects. The company operates 16 tugs, including seven offshore tugs, together with eight barges, providing specialised capacity for a range of maritime transport and project requirements.

The acquisition broadens Boluda Towage’s activities beyond its existing port and coastal towage operations by incorporating additional expertise in offshore marine projects. Muller Dordrecht’s established customer relationships and specialised operating capabilities will remain part of the business under the new name.

Vicente Boluda Ceballos, Executive Chairman of Boluda Towage, said the acquisition would expand the group’s capabilities while allowing Muller to continue its specialised operations.

“Muller has built an excellent reputation over more than a century and brings highly specialised offshore towage capabilities,” said Vicente Boluda Ceballos, Executive Chairman of Boluda Towage. “The acquisition broadens the capabilities of the wider Boluda organisation and supports Muller’s focus on serving customers worldwide. Its specialist activities will continue alongside our existing European towage operations.”

The transaction forms part of Boluda Towage’s international expansion strategy, combining its existing European operations with a business specialising in offshore towage and heavy maritime transport.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the acquisition.
