Samudera Shipping Line has signed shipbuilding contracts for two new 3,000 TEU container vessels as part of its ongoing fleet development strategy, with deliveries expected by 2030.

The Singapore-listed shipping company announced that the contracts were concluded with Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The two vessels will provide a combined nominal container capacity of 6,000 TEUs, supporting Samudera’s plans to strengthen its container shipping operations.

According to the company’s announcement dated 3 November 2026, the newbuildings are intended to increase fleet capacity and support its long-term operational requirements. The expected delivery timeframe remains subject to the terms and conditions of the respective shipbuilding agreements.

The investment forms part of Samudera’s existing shipping business and has been classified by the company as a transaction undertaken in the ordinary course of its operations. As a result, it does not constitute a transaction under Chapter 10 of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited Listing Manual.

Samudera stated that the shipbuilding contracts are not expected to have a material impact on the group’s net tangible assets or earnings per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2026.

The company did not disclose the contractual value of the two vessels, their propulsion systems or additional technical specifications. It also did not provide individual delivery dates beyond the expected completion timeframe of 2030.

The newbuilding agreements represent a further step in Samudera’s fleet development programme, adding future container shipping capacity as the group prepares for its longer-term operational needs.
