Wan Hai Lines to launch CI8 service linking South China and West India

Wan Hai Lines has announced plans to introduce a new China India Service 8 (CI8) in late November 2026, establishing a direct container shipping connection between Haiphong, South China and West India.

The service will operate with vessels in the 2,800–3,000 TEU capacity range and will have a round-trip cycle of 35 days. According to the carrier, the new rotation will strengthen its Intra-Asia network and expand its shipping connections with the Indian market.

The CI8 service will connect ports in Vietnam, China, Malaysia and India, including direct calls at Mundra and Nhava Sheva. Port Klang’s Northport terminal will be included in both directions of the service.

The announced port rotation is:

Haiphong – Qinzhou – Nansha – Shekou – Port Klang (Northport) – Mundra – Nhava Sheva – Port Klang (Northport) – Haiphong.

Wan Hai Lines said the service is intended to provide customers with additional shipping options between the Far East and West India, while strengthening connections between its existing regional services.

The introduction of CI8 forms part of the carrier’s continued expansion of its Intra-Asia service network, with a particular focus on improving connectivity with India.

The company has not specified the vessels assigned to the new service or confirmed the exact date of its inaugural sailing.
