Lauritzen Bulkers adds Japanese-built vessel to core fleet

Lauritzen Bulkers has announced the naming and delivery of Fiona Bulker, a Japanese-built handysize bulk carrier that has joined the company’s core fleet.
The vessel was constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan and has a deadweight capacity of approximately 40,000 tonnes. Described by the company as an eco-enhanced and logs-fitted handysize vessel, Fiona Bulker is equipped for the transportation of dry bulk cargoes, including logs.
The naming and delivery ceremony in Japan was attended by Lauritzen Bulkers Chief Executive Officer Martin Sato, Head of Tonnage Book Per Colberg and Head of Asset Management Carl Wegeberg, alongside the company’s Japanese partners.
The delivery represents another addition to Lauritzen Bulkers’ fleet through its established relationships with Japanese shipbuilders and shipping partners. The company confirmed that it has several newbuildings associated with Imabari Shipbuilding and highlighted its continuing cooperation with Ehime Kaiun.
Lauritzen Bulkers did not disclose the vessel’s acquisition cost, contractual employment arrangements or detailed technical specifications beyond its capacity and principal design characteristics.
With Fiona Bulker entering its core fleet, the company continues to expand its dry bulk operations through the addition of Japanese-built tonnage.
