Viking takes delivery of new river cruise ship Haki

Viking has taken delivery of Viking Haki, its newest European river cruise vessel, adding another ship to its fleet of Viking Longships as the company continues its expansion programme.

The new vessel has capacity for 190 passengers across 95 staterooms and is scheduled to operate on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. Its deployment will include several of Viking’s established European itineraries, connecting destinations across the continent’s inland waterways.

The delivery was announced on 28 October 2026 and forms part of the company’s ongoing fleet development strategy, which includes further river, ocean and expedition vessels scheduled for delivery over the coming years.

Viking Haki follows the established Viking Longship design, incorporating a square bow that allows for three full passenger decks. The vessel also features an asymmetric corridor arrangement designed to accommodate two-room suites, alongside the indoor and outdoor Aquavit Terrace.

Leah Talactac, President and Chief Executive Officer of Viking, welcomed the new vessel to the company’s fleet, highlighting its role in expanding the availability of European river voyages.

The ship is expected to operate itineraries including Rhine Getaway, Grand European Tour, Danube Waltz and Tulips & Windmills, as well as seasonal Christmas Market cruises.

Viking outlines further fleet expansion

The delivery comes as Viking continues implementing its committed vessel orderbook, covering additions across its river cruise, ocean cruise and expedition operations.

According to the company, another 17 river vessels are expected to be delivered by 2028, bringing its river fleet to 114 ships.

Viking also expects to receive 11 additional ocean cruise ships by 2032 and two expedition vessels by 2031. Based on these orders, the company’s combined ocean and expedition fleet is projected to reach 28 vessels in 2032.

The company currently operates a fleet of more than 100 ships across its river, ocean and expedition cruise businesses, serving destinations on 21 rivers, five oceans and all seven continents.

The latest addition strengthens Viking’s European river cruise fleet while its remaining newbuilding programme provides for further vessel deliveries across multiple segments through 2032.
