Havila Shipping faces renewed asset attachment request from creditor banks

Norwegian offshore shipping company Havila Shipping ASA has received a new request from three creditor banks seeking attachment liens over the group’s assets, as a longstanding debt dispute continues through the Norwegian courts.
The request concerns outstanding debt claimed by DNB Bank ASA, Swedbank AB and Danske Bank A/S NUF, comprising NOK 713 million in principal and approximately NOK 65 million in accrued interest. Havila Shipping reported the total amount subject to the request as NOK 779 million.
The latest development follows a ruling by the Borgarting Court of Appeal on October 19, 2026, in favour of the three banks. The decision forms part of an ongoing dispute over debt obligations that the lenders previously declared immediately due and payable.
Legal dispute continues following court ruling
In December 2025, Havila Shipping disclosed that the banks had declared the relevant debt due and payable and initiated steps to establish attachment liens over the group’s assets. The new request represents a further development in those proceedings following the October appellate court ruling.
Havila Shipping has maintained its intention to challenge the judgment. According to its latest stock exchange announcement, the company will appeal the decision, with November 19, 2026, set as the deadline for filing the appeal.
The request for attachment liens concerns measures intended to secure the creditors’ claims against the company’s assets. However, the latest disclosure does not establish that the requested liens have already been granted or enforced.
The dispute remains unresolved, with the planned appeal representing the next stage of the legal proceedings. Havila Shipping has not provided additional details in the latest announcement regarding the specific assets covered by the request or the potential operational implications for the group.
