Greek Maritime Forum 2027 to Bring Global Shipping Leaders Together in Athens

The Greek Maritime Forum 2027 will take place in Athens on May 25-26, bringing together more than 800 maritime professionals to discuss the regulatory, technological and operational challenges shaping the future of international shipping.

Organised by Marensia Group, the two-day event will feature over 60 speakers, more than 50 exhibitors and 12 panel discussions. Shipowners, ship managers, port representatives, technology providers and other maritime stakeholders will gather to exchange industry insights, examine emerging trends and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The conference programme will cover a broad range of issues affecting maritime businesses, from environmental compliance and alternative fuels to digital transformation, supply chain efficiency and workforce development.

Decarbonisation and the Future of Marine Fuels

Environmental regulation and the transition towards lower-emission shipping will be among the central topics at the Greek Maritime Forum 2027.

As shipowners face growing pressure to meet emissions targets while maintaining commercial competitiveness, the forum will examine the practical implications of decarbonisation for fleet operations, investment decisions and maritime infrastructure.

The panel Decarbonization Rules & Reality will address evolving International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements, compliance strategies and their potential impact on shipping businesses.

Meanwhile, The Alternative Fuels Reality Check will explore fuel availability, safety considerations, costs and infrastructure readiness as the industry evaluates alternative energy solutions.

Port infrastructure will also feature prominently through Decarbonizing Ports & Harbors, with discussions focusing on shore power, port electrification and technologies supporting more sustainable port operations.

Digitalisation, Artificial Intelligence and Maritime Cybersecurity

Technology is increasingly influencing how shipping companies manage vessels, optimise operations and respond to commercial challenges.

At the Greek Maritime Forum 2027, discussions will examine the practical application of emerging technologies across the maritime sector.

The Maritime Digital Transformation panel will explore technology adoption, data management and the commercial value of digital solutions, while The AI-Enabled Fleet will focus on the potential of artificial intelligence to support fleet performance, predictive maintenance and operational decision-making.

With vessels, ports and shore-based systems becoming more interconnected, cybersecurity will be another key topic. The Cybersecurity in a Connected Maritime World session will examine the protection of maritime infrastructure, operational technology and critical data against evolving cyber threats.

The programme will also address the development of autonomous shipping through The Road to Autonomous Vessels, exploring technological progress, regulatory challenges and commercial feasibility.

Supply Chain Efficiency and Operational Resilience

Beyond technological innovation and environmental compliance, the forum will examine the operational challenges facing shipping companies and their partners.

The panel Optimizing the Maritime Supply Chain will focus on procurement, logistics and operational excellence, exploring how maritime businesses can improve sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier relationships and build more resilient supply chains.

As global shipping operations become increasingly complex, efficient procurement, reliable logistics and effective coordination between industry stakeholders remain essential to maintaining competitiveness.

Maritime Workforce and Industry Leadership

The changing demands of modern shipping are also creating new challenges for maritime professionals.

Sessions including Crew Wellbeing & Engagement and Crew Skills for the Next Fleet will examine seafarer welfare, workforce retention and the training requirements associated with digital technologies, alternative fuels and increasingly sophisticated vessels.

The programme will also feature Biggest Win & Biggest Mistake, offering an opportunity for maritime leaders to share experiences, discuss lessons learned and reflect on the decisions that have shaped their businesses.

Exhibition and Business Networking Opportunities

Alongside the conference programme, the Greek Maritime Forum 2027 will host an exhibition featuring more than 50 companies presenting technologies, equipment and services for the maritime industry.

The exhibition will provide opportunities for shipowners, ship managers and other decision-makers to engage directly with solution providers and explore developments relevant to their operations.

Participants will also have access to dedicated networking opportunities, business matchmaking and a cocktail reception, creating additional opportunities for commercial discussions and industry partnerships.

Athens to Welcome the International Maritime Community

Greece’s prominent position in global shipping makes Athens a natural location for an event bringing together stakeholders from across the maritime value chain.

With discussions spanning regulatory developments, fleet technology, port operations, supply chain management and workforce challenges, the Greek Maritime Forum 2027 aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the issues influencing the industry’s direction.

By combining expert discussions with an international exhibition and business networking opportunities, the event will offer maritime professionals a platform to exchange knowledge, establish connections and explore solutions to shared industry challenges.

The Greek Maritime Forum 2027 will take place on May 25–26 in Athens, Greece.
