HII appoints Renee Swan as Chief Human Resources Officer

HII has appointed Renee Swan as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective 7 December 2026, as the US shipbuilding group prepares for a transition in its senior leadership team.
Swan will succeed Edmond Hughes, who has served as HII’s CHRO since 2022, following an earlier role leading human resources at the company’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division. Hughes will support the leadership transition before retiring in April 2027 after 21 years with the company.
Swan joins HII from Atmus Filtration Technologies, where she served as Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer. Her previous experience includes senior human resources positions at L3Harris, Kennametal, Honeywell International and Eaton Corporation.
In her new position, Swan will oversee HII’s human resources strategy, including employee and labour relations, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, leadership development and succession planning.
“People will always be at the heart of HII,” said Chris Kastner, President and CEO of HII, welcoming Swan to the company and acknowledging Hughes’ contribution.
Swan holds a master’s degree in human resource management from Cornell University, an MBA from Point Park University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh.
