SEFE secures long-term LNG supply from Canadian export project

SEFE Securing Energy for Europe has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Canada’s Ksi Lisims LNG project, securing future volumes as part of its international procurement strategy.
Under the agreement, SEFE will purchase one million tonnes of LNG annually for 20 years on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, with deliveries expected to begin in the early 2030s. The agreement follows a Heads of Agreement signed earlier in 2026 and represents SEFE’s first LNG supply partnership with a Canadian project.
The contracted volumes will be destination-flexible, allowing SEFE to allocate LNG supplies across international markets according to customer requirements. The company said the arrangement would strengthen its diversified LNG portfolio and support long-term supply security.
Canadian LNG development
Ksi Lisims LNG is being developed by Western LNG, Rockies LNG and the Nisga’a Nation as an LNG export project in Canada. The development is intended to combine Canadian natural gas resources with renewable hydropower to support lower-emission LNG production.
The participation of the Nisga’a Nation is also intended to provide long-term economic opportunities for local communities through the project’s development and future operations.
Frédéric Barnaud, Chief Commercial Officer of SEFE, said the agreement would contribute to the company’s efforts to diversify its global LNG portfolio and secure reliable long-term energy supplies for customers.
Davis Thames, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western LNG, highlighted the project’s potential to supply international markets with Canadian LNG and support greater diversification of energy sources.
The agreement establishes a long-term commercial supply arrangement, although deliveries are not expected to commence until the early 2030s. The announcement does not identify specific LNG carriers, shipping operators or destination terminals associated with the contracted volumes.
The planned supply will add a Canadian source to SEFE’s international LNG portfolio as the company continues to develop long-term procurement arrangements across multiple producing regions.
