Wisdom Marine moves to sell two Handysize bulk carriers

Wisdom Marine Group has announced the planned disposal of two Handysize bulk carriers, Daiwan Wisdom and Paiwan Wisdom, through its subsidiaries Taokas Marine S.A. and Taokas Navigation S.A., for a combined consideration of no less than US$23.5 million.

According to the company’s announcement dated 16 October 2026, the two vessels have a deadweight capacity of 31,967 tonnes each, with a minimum sale price of US$11.75 million per ship.

The proposed buyer is Umran Global Investment, which Wisdom Marine identified as an unrelated third party. The transaction is expected to generate a combined disposal gain of approximately US$9 million, although the final financial outcome will depend on completion.

Vessel disposals support portfolio management

The company identified portfolio management as the purpose of the planned disposals, with the transaction terms determined through price negotiations.

Both vessels were built in 2010 at Japan’s Hakodate shipyard, according to Wisdom Marine’s published fleet information. Daiwan Wisdom was delivered in June 2010, while Paiwan Wisdom was delivered in April of the same year.

Under the announced arrangements, payment will be made upon delivery of each vessel. The company has not specified the anticipated delivery dates or confirmed that either sale has been completed.

The transaction was approved by the company’s board of directors and audit committee on 16 October 2026, with the board authorising the chairman to handle the relevant arrangements.

Expected gain from vessel sales

Wisdom Marine estimates that the disposal of the two bulk carriers will result in a profit of approximately US$9.0 million.

The company also disclosed brokerage arrangements involving Maxmart and Pierot, with each broker entitled to a commission of 1%. The total brokerage fees were stated at US$473,000.

The announcement did not provide additional details regarding the future employment of the vessels or their intended operations under the prospective buyer.

The planned sales form part of Wisdom Marine’s ongoing management of its dry bulk fleet, with the financial impact to be determined following completion of the transactions.
