Transworld Shipping Lines agrees $16.5 million bulk carrier acquisition

Transworld Shipping Lines Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to acquire the bulk carrier Saltwind Explorer from Saltwind Explorer Inc. for US$16.5 million.

The agreement was signed on 19 October 2026, according to a regulatory disclosure submitted by the Indian shipping company to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India.

The Saltwind Explorer is a 2011-built bulk carrier with a deadweight capacity of approximately 55,648 tonnes. The vessel operates under the Marshall Islands flag and is identified by IMO number 9483243.

The transaction represents a further investment in dry bulk shipping by Transworld Shipping Lines, whose existing operations include container feeder vessels and handysize bulk carriers.

Acquisition agreement and transaction status

According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the seller, Saltwind Explorer Inc., is not a related party, and the agreement does not involve any disclosed shareholding relationship between the two companies.

The acquisition is governed by the Memorandum of Agreement signed on 19 October. However, Transworld Shipping Lines has not confirmed the completion of the purchase or the delivery of the vessel to its fleet.

The company has also not disclosed the financing structure, payment arrangements or expected delivery date in the announcement.

Transworld Shipping Lines, formerly known as Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Limited, is an Indian vessel-owning company operating within the Transworld Group. Its activities span coastal container shipping and dry bulk transportation.

The latest agreement adds to the company’s recent fleet transactions, although the financial and operational impact will depend on the completion of the acquisition and the vessel’s subsequent employment.
