Suez Canal Authority expands cooperation with Monaco Yacht Club

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has signed a cooperation protocol with the Yacht Club de Monaco to strengthen the promotion and sustainable management of yacht marinas in Egypt.

The agreement, signed at the authority’s headquarters in Cairo, focuses on attracting yacht owners and operators to SCA facilities in Ismailia and Egypt’s North Coast, while supporting improvements in marina operations and environmental practices.

The signing ceremony was attended by SCA Chairman and Managing Director Admiral Ossama Rabiee and Yacht Club de Monaco Secretary General Bernard d’Alessandri.

Cooperation targets marina development and sustainability

Under the protocol, the two organisations will cooperate on marketing initiatives, innovation, resource management and marine environmental protection.

The agreement is intended to draw on the Monaco-based club’s international network and expertise to strengthen the position of Egyptian marinas within the Mediterranean yacht tourism market.

The latest arrangement builds on an earlier cooperation protocol signed in 2025, which covered marketing and the exchange of technical and administrative expertise.

The SCA has also participated in the Monaco Yacht Show in recent years to promote its marina services and establish connections with yacht owners and industry operators.

Focus on Ismailia and Al-Alamein facilities

The cooperation covers the authority’s yacht marina facilities in Ismailia and along Egypt’s North Coast, including Al-Alamein.

Following the signing ceremony, a Yacht Club de Monaco delegation visited the Al-Alamein marina, located at kilometre 92 on the North Coast, to review its facilities and explore potential areas of cooperation.

The SCA said the initiative forms part of Egypt’s wider strategy to develop yacht tourism and strengthen the international competitiveness of its marina infrastructure.

The protocol establishes a framework for cooperation, although the announcement does not specify investment commitments or a timetable for individual projects.
