Princess Cruises announces Americas programme with return to Amazon River

Princess Cruises has unveiled its 2028–2029 Americas cruise programme, featuring more than 250 departures across North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Antarctica. The new schedule includes the company’s return to the Amazon River for the first time since 2014 and the introduction of a 64-day voyage around South America.

The programme covers itineraries ranging from four-day Pacific Coast sailings to extended voyages connecting multiple regions. It also introduces new port calls, additional overnight stays and the return of roundtrip Hawaii cruises from Vancouver.

A central addition is the 64-day Circle South America itinerary aboard Coral Princess, combining Antarctica, the Amazon River and a transit through the Panama Canal’s historic locks. The itinerary forms part of a wider South American deployment comprising 13 departures across 11 itineraries, with calls at 38 destinations in 16 countries.

The return to the Amazon River marks one of the principal changes in the cruise line’s South American programme. The itineraries will include scenic navigation along the river and a scheduled call at Santarém, Brazil.

South American operations will be served by Majestic Princess and Coral Princess, with additional itineraries covering Patagonia, Cape Horn and Antarctica. These include 17-day Antarctica and Patagonia voyages and 15-day sailings around Cape Horn and the glaciers of Patagonia.

The newly introduced 64-day itinerary will combine several of these regions within a single voyage, including a Panama Canal transit.

The company is also offering longer stays in selected South American destinations, including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Lima, alongside optional inland excursions to Machu Picchu, Peru’s Sacred Valley and Iguazú Falls.

Caribbean remains the largest part of the programme

The Caribbean will account for 141 departures across 49 itineraries, making it the largest regional component of the announced season. Voyages will range from five to 17 days and depart from Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Juan, New York and Barbados.

The itineraries cover 24 destinations across 20 Caribbean islands, including St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Cozumel, Puerto Rico and the ABC Islands.

Several sailings will also include calls at Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, as well as Isla Tropicale in Roatán, Honduras. Selected itineraries will feature extended port stays in Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire and Curaçao.

The Panama Canal programme will comprise 12 departures across nine itineraries lasting between 16 and 20 days. Five vessels are scheduled to operate these voyages: Coral Princess, Crown Princess, Island Princess, Ruby Princess and Star Princess.

The ocean-to-ocean sailings will connect the Atlantic and Pacific through the Panama Canal, using both the historic locks and the newer Neopanamax locks, with additional calls in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

New Canadian destination and expanded Pacific itineraries

Princess Cruises will introduce Îles de la Madeleine in the Gulf of St. Lawrence as a new destination in its 2028 Canada and New England programme.

The region will receive 17 departures aboard Regal Princess and Caribbean Princess, covering five itineraries of seven to 14 days. Seven voyages will also include an overnight stay in Quebec.

The Hawaii programme will comprise 14 departures visiting Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island. Roundtrip voyages will operate from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver, with the Canadian departure point returning to the schedule for the 2028–2029 season. Each Hawaii sailing will include an extended evening stay in Honolulu.

In Mexico, the company has scheduled 35 departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco, covering voyages of seven to 11 days. Destinations include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo and La Paz. The 10-day Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez itineraries will include an overnight stay in Cabo San Lucas.

A further 18 departures will serve the California and Pacific Coast, with four- to seven-day itineraries from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. Selected voyages will include late-night calls in San Diego, San Francisco and Victoria.

Across the programme, Princess Cruises plans additional late-night and overnight port stays to extend the time available ashore at selected destinations.

The 2028–2029 Americas itineraries are now available for booking, according to the company’s October 13 announcement.
