Norwegian Cruise Line unveils Mediterranean deployment for Norwegian Bella

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has opened bookings for its upcoming cruise ship Norwegian Bella, which is scheduled to begin operating seven-night Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona in May 2028.
Currently under construction at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the vessel will have a gross tonnage of approximately 170,000 GT and accommodate 3,921 passengers at double occupancy. Measuring around 344 metres in length, Norwegian Bella will join Norwegian Aura as one of the largest ships in the company’s fleet.
The vessel will complete Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Class, marking the final addition to a series of ships developed around expanded passenger facilities and updated onboard designs.
Norwegian Bella to enter Mediterranean service in 2028
The ship’s inaugural deployment will focus on seven-night round-trip Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona, with itineraries covering several major European destinations.
The announced programme includes calls serving Rome, Florence and Salerno in Italy, alongside Marseille in France and Palma de Mallorca in Spain.
The deployment will introduce one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest vessels to the European cruise market, while Norwegian Aura, which is scheduled for delivery in May 2027, will operate in the Caribbean.
Both ships are being built by Fincantieri, reflecting the shipbuilder’s continuing involvement in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet development programme.
The company has not announced an exact delivery date for Norwegian Bella in the latest release, although its first Mediterranean sailings are scheduled for May 2028.
New vessel completes Prima Class development
Norwegian Bella will incorporate design features and facilities developed across Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Class, including expanded outdoor areas, passenger accommodation and recreational spaces.
The ship will feature nearly 2,000 staterooms, including 159 suites within The Haven by Norwegian, the company’s premium accommodation concept.
Its onboard design will also include a larger pool deck than those aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, together with expanded outdoor passenger areas.
The vessel’s exterior will feature original hull artwork by Australian contemporary artist George Rose, continuing Norwegian Cruise Line’s practice of incorporating distinctive visual designs across its fleet.
According to the company, the ship’s development builds on the design experience and passenger feedback gathered throughout the Prima Class programme.
Fincantieri continues construction of NCL’s newest ships
The construction of Norwegian Bella and Norwegian Aura forms part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s ongoing fleet development, with the two vessels scheduled to enter different regional cruise markets.
While Norwegian Aura is expected to join the fleet in 2027, Norwegian Bella is planned to follow in 2028, with its initial deployment centred on the Mediterranean.
The introduction of Norwegian Bella will add a high-capacity vessel to Norwegian Cruise Line’s European operations and conclude the Prima Class series.
With bookings now open, the company has moved ahead with commercial preparations for the ship’s planned entry into service, ahead of its scheduled Mediterranean debut in May 2028.
