Kuehne+Nagel opens new technology centre in Chennai

Kuehne+Nagel has opened a new technology centre in Chennai, India, as the logistics group expands its engineering capabilities and development of digital supply chain platforms.
The Chennai Tech Centre is expected to employ around 250 specialists by early 2027. Teams at the facility will work on Kuehne+Nagel’s global digital products used across its logistics operations.
The company is working with Accenture to support the recruitment and development of the centre’s workforce.
Chennai team to work on global logistics platforms
Among the systems being developed by teams in Chennai will be SALOG, Kuehne+Nagel’s core digital forwarding platform for managing sea and air freight shipments worldwide.
The new facility will operate as part of the company’s existing global technology network, with Kuehne+Nagel citing India’s engineering and digital talent base as a factor behind the investment.
Chennai was selected due to its established business ecosystem and experience supporting international operations.
Marcus Claesson, Chief Information Officer at Kuehne+Nagel, said developing core platforms internally allows the company to introduce changes more quickly and deploy technology across its global operations.
“Technology and digital capabilities have become a key differentiator in logistics,” Claesson said. “The new Chennai Tech Centre strengthens our engineering capabilities and supports the next generation of digital logistics solutions.”
Accenture supports workforce build-up
Accenture is supporting Kuehne+Nagel as it builds the team required for the new centre.
Christina Raab, Market Unit Lead Central and Eastern Europe at Accenture, said the companies are combining their technology and operational capabilities with local talent to establish the Chennai operation and support its expansion.
The investment comes as Kuehne+Nagel increases its focus on proprietary technology for managing international supply chains, including systems designed to support freight visibility and the management of sea and air cargo movements.
