The contract logistics provider has opened a new centre in Lower Saxony, bringing its German network to 17 sites.

ID Logistics has expanded its operations in Germany with the opening of a 35,000-square-metre logistics facility dedicated to heavy and bulky goods at Mittelweserpark in Lower Saxony.

The centre, which opened in September 2026, represents the company’s 17th site in Germany and increases its total logistics space dedicated to oversized goods in the country to more than 100,000 square metres.

The development forms part of a wider expansion of ID Logistics’ German operations, where its network has grown from eight sites in 2021 to 17 in 2026.

Over the same period, the company’s workforce in Germany has increased from 2,800 to 4,800 employees, while its facilities now cover approximately 910,000 square metres of operational space.

New facility supports oversized goods handling

The Mittelweserpark centre comprises three buildings and can accommodate up to 7,000 oversized items weighing as much as 180 kilograms each.

The facility handles order preparation, dispatch and cross-docking operations for products including large household appliances, sofas and leisure equipment.

According to ID Logistics, orders can be prepared for dispatch within two hours of receipt, while cross-docking operations have a maximum processing time of four hours.

The company has invested in 40 material-handling vehicles for the facility, including equipment specifically designed for oversized products.

Once fully operational, the centre is expected to employ 150 people.

The new operation builds on the company’s existing expertise in oversized goods logistics at Göttingen, where ID Logistics has operated a specialised facility of approximately 60,000 square metres since 2018.

Before operations began at Mittelweserpark, part of the workforce completed a three-week training programme at Göttingen to prepare for the handling requirements of the new site.

German logistics network continues to grow

ID Logistics has operated in Germany since 2013, providing contract logistics services to customers in retail, fast-moving consumer goods, e-commerce and cosmetics.

Its activities have expanded beyond warehouse management and order preparation to include sorting, last-mile delivery and transport services.

The company introduced last-mile delivery operations in Germany in 2024 and has continued developing full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL) and distribution solutions.

The latest facility strengthens its capacity to handle products requiring specialised storage, equipment and operational processes.

Globally, ID Logistics operates nearly 450 facilities across 20 countries, with approximately 10 million square metres of operational space and 55,000 employees.
