Hunter Group reports further charter payment shortfall amid ongoing dispute

Hunter Group ASA has reported a further shortfall in time charter payments from one of its long-term contractual counterparties, bringing the total disputed amount to approximately $67.8 million, excluding accrued interest.
The company said the counterparty paid approximately $12.75 million less than the amount contractually due for September 2026, continuing a disagreement over charter hire obligations that has affected payments since March.
According to Hunter Group, the counterparty continues to dispute its contractual obligations, while the company maintains that the reduced payments constitute a breach of contract.
Disputed charter payments increase in September
The latest payment shortfall follows similar reductions recorded in March, April, May, June, July and August 2026.
Hunter Group previously informed the market about the matter through a series of announcements issued between April and September.
For September 2026, the company recorded net time charter earnings of approximately $60.88 million.
Of that amount, approximately $12.75 million remains outstanding in connection with the ongoing contractual dispute.
The latest shortfall has increased the cumulative disputed amount to approximately $67.79 million, plus accrued interest.
The company has not identified the counterparty in its latest announcement or provided additional details about the grounds on which the payments are being disputed.
Hunter Group maintains its contractual position
Hunter Group stated that it continues to reject the counterparty’s position regarding the reduced charter hire payments.
The company and its legal advisors remain confident that the counterparty has no valid grounds for making the reductions.
Hunter Group considers the continued payment shortfalls to constitute an ongoing breach of contract and said it intends to take the necessary steps to protect its contractual rights.
The dispute remains unresolved, and the company has not announced a settlement or provided a timetable for its resolution.
Hunter Group said it would issue further market updates when appropriate.
