GXO expands French logistics network with new Action distribution center

The new facility in northern France will support retail distribution across France and Belgium, with capacity to serve up to 290 stores.
GXO Logistics has expanded its partnership with European retailer Action through the operation of a new distribution center in Onnaing, northern France, strengthening the retailer’s logistics network serving France and Belgium.
The approximately 80,000-square-meter facility is the third Action distribution center managed by GXO in France, following existing operations in Moissy-Cramayel and Labastide-Saint-Pierre.
Once fully operational, the Onnaing site is expected to serve up to 290 Action stores, supporting the retailer’s distribution requirements and further expansion across the two countries.
New facility expands distribution capacity
Under the arrangement, GXO is responsible for the warehouse’s operational activities, including inbound handling, storage, order picking, outbound distribution and returns management.
The new distribution center will primarily support Action’s store network in northern France and Belgium, providing additional capacity for the movement and management of retail goods.
The operation builds on the existing relationship between the two companies, which also extends to logistics activities in Italy.
According to GXO, the facility is intended to provide greater flexibility and operational capacity as Action continues expanding its European retail network.
Workforce expected to grow through 2028
The Onnaing distribution center currently employs approximately 540 people, with employment expected to increase to as many as 1,000 by 2028 as operations develop.
GXO has established recruitment and training programmes with local organisations to support workforce development at the site.
The company reports that approximately 80% of candidates who complete its training programme are subsequently hired.
The facility has also been designed with energy efficiency and environmental performance in mind.
GXO and Action are targeting BREEAM Outstanding certification for the building, although the announcement does not indicate that this certification has already been achieved.
The companies have not disclosed the financial value or duration of the expanded logistics agreement.
