DACHSER expands UK logistics network with Scottish acquisition
Drummond has been a trusted DACHSER partner since 2008, connecting Scottish customers to DACHSER’s European Logistics network.

DACHSER is acquiring Scottish logistics company Drummond Distribution, extending its road logistics and groupage network into a region where the German logistics provider currently has no operational locations.

The acquisition follows a partnership between the two companies dating back to 2008, during which Drummond has connected Scottish customers with DACHSER’s European Logistics network. The companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The transaction will bring five locations across Scotland’s Central Belt, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, into DACHSER’s network, alongside warehousing facilities, vehicles and an established customer base.

Acquisition expands DACHSER’s presence in Scotland

Founded in 1927, Drummond Distribution is a family-owned logistics company that generated approximately £20 million in revenue in 2025 and employs around 175 people.

The acquisition includes approximately 46,500 square metres of warehouse space, a fleet of around 100 trucks and 80 trailers. Its five locations serve Scotland’s Central Belt, a region connecting the country’s two largest cities and surrounding industrial and commercial areas.

According to DACHSER, the transaction will expand its geographic coverage without creating overlapping operational structures, as the company does not currently operate locations in the region.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen connections between Scottish businesses and European markets, particularly for industrial and consumer goods transported through DACHSER’s groupage network.

“The acquisition of Drummond strengthens our network in the United Kingdom and sets the course for further growth,” said Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at DACHSER.

Tonn added that the integration would provide Scotland’s export-oriented businesses with connections to European economic regions through the company’s existing network.

Existing management team to remain in place

Drummond Distribution will continue operating under its existing management team, led by Damon Burns, while the current owners gradually transition out of the business.

Following the acquisition, the management team will report to Mark Rollinson, Managing Director of DACHSER UK & Ireland.

The arrangement is intended to maintain operational continuity as the Scottish business becomes part of DACHSER’s wider organisation.

“We have a long-standing and trusting partnership with DACHSER,” said Damon Burns of Drummond Distribution.

Burns said the companies share similar values and that joining the larger logistics group would provide continuity for customers and employees while creating opportunities for further development.

The transaction represents an expansion of DACHSER’s established partnership with Drummond, bringing the Scottish company’s operations directly into its European logistics network.
