COSCO SHIPPING Ports and two other shareholders are seeking to dispose of their combined 70% interest in Qingdao Port Dongjiakou Ore Terminal Co., Ltd., through a public tender process in China.

The proposed transaction involves COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ 25% stake, alongside a further 25% held by Mighty Star and 20% owned by IMC. The combined interests are being offered at a minimum consideration of RMB 1.92 billion.

The disposal remains subject to the outcome of the tender process, with no buyer selected and no definitive sale agreement signed.

Shareholders launch proposed disposal

According to a stock exchange announcement issued by COSCO SHIPPING Ports on 16 October 2026, the three shareholders intend to sell their interests in the company, which operates in the iron ore terminal sector at Qingdao’s Dongjiakou port area.

The minimum consideration for the combined 70% stake has been set at RMB 1,917,691,160, while the minimum price attributable to COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ 25% interest is RMB 684,889,700.

The proposed sale would result in a change in the ownership structure of the terminal company if successfully completed.

The public tender process is scheduled to close on 11 November 2026. The identity of any successful bidder and the final transaction value will depend on the outcome of that process.

Transaction remains subject to completion

The proposed disposal concerns a company involved in the handling of iron ore, rather than COSCO SHIPPING Ports’ container terminal operations at Qingdao.

If the sale proceeds, COSCO SHIPPING Ports would dispose of its entire 25% interest in Qingdao Port Dongjiakou Ore Terminal.

However, the company has cautioned that the transaction may not proceed, as the tender process has not yet resulted in a binding agreement.

No completed transfer of ownership has been announced, and the proposed transaction should not be treated as a finalised sale.
