CMA CGM completes FedEx Supply Chain acquisition

CMA CGM Group has completed its acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, significantly expanding the North American contract logistics operations of its subsidiary, CEVA Logistics, while establishing a broader commercial relationship with FedEx in ocean and air freight.
The transaction, completed on 1 October 2026, values FedEx Supply Chain at an enterprise value of $1.4 billion. It represents a major expansion of CMA CGM’s logistics activities in the United States and Canada, adding warehousing capacity, employees and operational capabilities to CEVA’s existing network.
Alongside the acquisition, CMA CGM and FedEx have entered into multi-year commercial agreements covering ocean freight, while also outlining plans for cooperation in air cargo transportation.
Acquisition significantly expands CEVA Logistics network
The integration of FedEx Supply Chain adds approximately 34 million square feet of warehouse space and nearly 10,000 employees to CEVA Logistics’ North American operations.
According to CMA CGM, the acquisition nearly triples CEVA’s contract logistics footprint in the region. The combined business operates approximately 150 warehouses, bringing CEVA’s total North American presence to more than 240 locations and approximately 20,000 employees.
The expansion strengthens CEVA’s contract logistics activities across several industries, including healthcare, technology, consumer goods and retail.
Beyond the additional warehouse capacity, the acquisition brings together operational and digital capabilities that CMA CGM intends to use to expand automation and robotics across its North American logistics network.
The transaction also supports the group’s wider strategy of integrating ocean shipping, inland transportation, warehousing and other logistics services within a broader supply chain offering.
“The completion of this acquisition marks an important step in the development of CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics in North America,” said Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM Group.
Saadé said the expanded contract logistics operations would strengthen the group’s ability to provide integrated supply chain services across maritime, air and land transportation.
CMA CGM and FedEx establish wider freight cooperation
In parallel with the acquisition, CMA CGM and FedEx have agreed to develop their commercial relationship through multi-year arrangements covering international freight transportation.
Under a non-exclusive agreement, CMA CGM will become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx, providing maritime transport and related carrier services.
The companies also plan to cooperate on air cargo capacity across selected international routes, including Asia–Europe.
According to the announcement, the proposed air freight cooperation is intended to improve aircraft utilisation and provide greater flexibility on long-haul services.
The distinction between the two arrangements is important: the preferred ocean carrier agreement has been announced, while the air cargo capacity cooperation remains a planned initiative.
For CMA CGM, the agreements extend the commercial relationship with FedEx beyond the acquisition of its former supply chain subsidiary.
The completed transaction strengthens CEVA Logistics’ position in North American contract logistics, while the accompanying freight agreements create a framework for further cooperation between the two groups across international transport networks.
