CMA CGM announces rate restoration on Oceania–Americas routes

CMA CGM has announced a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI) of USD 300 per TEU on selected container shipping routes between Oceania and the Americas, effective 2 November 2026.

The adjustment will apply to cargo covered by the relevant tariffs or service contracts, affecting shipments in both directions between Oceania and the eastern coast of North America, as well as selected movements from Oceania to Latin America.

The French container shipping company published two separate notices on 12 October, outlining the geographical scope and cargo categories covered by the rate adjustments.

Rate restoration covers multiple trade lanes

For shipments originating in Oceania, CMA CGM will apply the USD 300 per TEU adjustment to cargo destined for the US East Coast, Canadian East Coast, US Gulf and Latin America.

A corresponding adjustment of the same amount will apply to cargo moving from the US East Coast, US Gulf and Canadian East Coast to Oceania.

Both measures cover dry containers, out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo, paying empty containers and refrigerated shipments.

The Latin American destinations are included only in the announcement covering exports from Oceania. The second notice does not specify a corresponding adjustment for shipments originating in Latin America.

Additional charges may apply

According to CMA CGM, the RRI adjustments will apply to tariff or service contract rates within the scope of the respective notices.

The carrier also indicated that bunker-related surcharges, terminal handling charges at origin and destination, and safety and security surcharges may apply separately.

Other applicable charges may include contingency and local charges, depending on the shipment.

Both rate adjustments are scheduled to take effect on 2 November 2026.
