CMA CGM announces rate restoration on Oceania–Americas routes

The carrier will introduce a peak season surcharge on selected container shipments from Northern Europe and revise bunker charges on its France–Tunisia RoRo service.

CMA CGM has announced changes to its freight surcharges on selected container and roll-on/roll-off services, with the revised charges taking effect in November 2026.

The measures include a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on container shipments from Northern Europe to destinations in Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America, alongside updated Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) rates for the carrier’s France–Tunisia RoRo service.

Peak season surcharge introduced on Atlantic routes

From 15 November 2026, based on the cargo loading date, CMA CGM will apply a PSS of €150 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) on eligible shipments from Northern Europe.

The origin range includes Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic region and Spain’s Atlantic ports, excluding Portugal.

The surcharge applies to shipments bound for Central America, excluding Mexico, and selected Caribbean destinations. French West Indies, French Guiana, St. Maarten and Gustavia are excluded.

The measure also covers Colombia’s Atlantic coast, Venezuela and the northern Brazilian destinations of Manaus, Fortaleza and Vila do Conde.

The PSS applies to dry cargo, including out-of-gauge shipments and special equipment.

According to CMA CGM, the surcharge will remain in effect until further notice.

Other applicable charges, including bunker-related surcharges, terminal handling charges and local fees, may be added to the basic freight rate.

Bunker charges revised on France–Tunisia RoRo service

Separately, CMA CGM SSL Intra Europe will revise its BAF rates on the RoRo South service connecting France and Tunisia.

The updated charges will take effect on 1 November 2026 and apply to both import and export movements.

The carrier attributed the adjustment to changes in bunker prices since its previous surcharge review.

The revised BAF rates are as follows:

Cargo categoryBAF from 1 November
Full rolling units€775 per unit
Empty rolling units€513 per unit
Other rolling units€86 per lane metre
Passenger cars and minivans€294 per unit
Breakbulk cargo€47 per cubic metre

The category covering other rolling units includes trucks, earthmoving machinery, agricultural equipment and other eligible wheeled or tracked vehicles.

CMA CGM has not provided the previous BAF rates in the supplied announcement, so the percentage change cannot be determined from the new tariff schedule alone.
