Gary Cobbing appointed CEO of Ellerman City Liners

Ellerman City Liners, part of GB Global, has appointed Gary Cobbing as Chief Executive Officer as the company continues developing its European shortsea shipping operations.

Cobbing brings more than 17 years of experience within the GB Global Group, where he has held several senior leadership positions across shipping, logistics and supply chain operations.

His appointment comes as Ellerman City Liners progresses with the integration of Viasea into its network, a development intended to strengthen its shortsea capabilities, broaden its service offering and extend its European coverage.

Focus on network development and operational performance

As Chief Executive Officer, Cobbing will oversee the strategic direction of Ellerman City Liners, with responsibilities covering operational performance, customer service, network development and long-term growth.

The company said the appointment forms part of its plans to strengthen executive leadership while continuing to develop its shipping services.

The ongoing integration of Viasea is a key element of this strategy, supporting the expansion of Ellerman City Liners’ European shortsea operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Cobbing said the company would continue focusing on reliable shipping services and network development.

“As global trade continues to evolve, our focus remains on delivering reliable, customer-focused short sea shipping solutions while continuing to strengthen our network, enhance our capabilities and create value for our customers,” said Cobbing.

The company has not announced additional changes to its management structure or provided a specific timetable for completing the Viasea integration.
