WinGD signs long-term engine support agreement with COSCO Shipping LNG

Swiss marine engine developer WinGD has signed a ten-year service agreement with COSCO Shipping LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management to provide maintenance and technical support for six liquefied natural gas carriers equipped with WinGD dual-fuel engines.

The agreement covers vessels powered by WinGD 6X72DF engines and will be delivered through Global Service by WinGD, the company’s lifecycle support offering for marine propulsion systems.

The contract combines scheduled engine maintenance with continuous operational monitoring through the WinGD Integrated Digital Expert (WiDE) remote diagnostics platform.

The arrangement is intended to support engine reliability, maintenance planning and operational availability throughout the agreement.

Combining maintenance with digital monitoring

Under the contract, WinGD will provide planned maintenance services alongside ongoing technical support for the six LNG carriers.

The WiDE platform will enable continuous remote diagnostics, allowing engine performance information to support maintenance decisions and technical assessments.

The combination of scheduled servicing and digital monitoring is designed to help the operator manage engine performance and address technical requirements during vessel operations.

WinGD will also provide access to its engine specialists, supporting the operator with technical expertise throughout the service period.

Rudi Holtbecker, Regional Head Global Service – Asia & Middle East at WinGD, said the agreement extends the company’s relationship with the operator beyond engine delivery into long-term operational support.

Cooperation with CSSC service partner

WinGD will work with CMS, also known as CSSC Global Service, to deliver the contracted services.

Both companies are subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), and their collaboration will contribute to the development of the CSSC Global Service brand.

Under the arrangement, maintenance and support activities will be planned, supervised and executed according to WinGD’s technical standards and quality requirements.

The partnership combines WinGD’s expertise as the original equipment manufacturer with CMS’s existing service capabilities in China and internationally.

According to WinGD, this structure will strengthen support for Chinese-operated vessels trading across global routes.

Supporting LNG carrier operations

COSCO Shipping LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management said the agreement would support its requirements for safe, reliable and efficient LNG transportation.

The operator highlighted the importance of planned maintenance, continuous monitoring and specialist technical assistance in maintaining engine performance over the long term.

CMS President Yanwei also emphasised the benefits of combining WinGD’s technical knowledge with established service resources.

The contract reflects WinGD’s continued expansion of its global service activities as its installed engine base grows.

The announcement does not disclose the financial value of the agreement or identify the six LNG carriers individually.
