Neptune welcomes new vehicle carrier Nikos Travlos to its fleet

Neptune Group of Companies has announced the addition of NIKOS TRAVLOS to its fleet, marking the delivery of the second vessel under its expanded Genesis Project and the beginning of celebrations recognising more than 50 years of the company’s maritime history.
Built at Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China, the new Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) forms part of Neptune’s fleet renewal programme, which focuses on modern vessel technology, operational efficiency and environmental performance.
The vessel has a capacity of 4,200 car equivalent units (CEU) and is equipped with LNG dual-fuel technology, allowing it to operate on liquefied natural gas or conventional marine fuels. Its design also incorporates battery technology and solar panels. <Cite ref=”turn758697search1″/>
Second delivery under the Genesis Project
NIKOS TRAVLOS follows the delivery of NEPTUNE PIREAS, the first vessel in the Genesis series, which joined the fleet in April 2026.
The new ship measures approximately 177.8 metres in length and 33.4 metres in breadth. Designed by Deltamarin, it is part of a new generation of vehicle carriers developed for Neptune’s automotive shipping operations. <Cite refs={[“turn758697search1″,”turn758697search4”]}/>
The Genesis Project represents an important component of Neptune’s ongoing fleet modernisation strategy, introducing vessels with updated propulsion systems and technologies intended to improve energy efficiency.
Vessel named in honour of Neptune’s founder
The vessel takes its name from Nikos Travlos, the founder of Neptune, recognising his contribution to the company’s development and maritime history.
A distinctive moustache has been incorporated into the ship’s bow design as a personal tribute to the founder.
Melina Travlos, Chair of the Board of Neptune Group of Companies, described the delivery as a particularly meaningful moment for her family and the company.
“Today is a deeply emotional day for me. It feels as though I am meeting my father again,” said Melina Travlos, Chair of the Board of Neptune Group of Companies.
She also described the decision to name the vessel after her father as a way of connecting Neptune’s history with the next generation of its fleet.
The delivery brings another newbuilding into Neptune’s operations as the company continues implementing its Genesis Project and marking more than five decades of activity in maritime transport.
