DP World names Jason Varsamidis as Asia Pacific CEO
The former regional Chief Financial Officer takes over leadership of DP World’s ports, terminals and logistics businesses across 22 geographies.
DP World has appointed Jason Varsamidis as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Asia Pacific, effective 15 October 2026, placing him in charge of the company’s regional ports, terminals and logistics operations.
Varsamidis will oversee a business spanning 22 geographies and employing more than 12,000 people. His responsibilities will include regional strategy, operational performance and the development of integrated logistics capabilities across Asia Pacific.
The appointment represents an internal leadership transition, with Varsamidis moving from his previous position as Chief Financial Officer of DP World Asia Pacific, which he had held since 2020.
Nearly three decades of experience within the group
Varsamidis joined P&O Ports in 1997 and has accumulated almost 30 years of experience across the business and its subsequent operations under DP World.
Before becoming Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer in 2020, he served as Chief Financial Officer of DP World Australia for seven years.
His responsibilities have included financial management, mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure investment projects and business restructuring programmes.
As regional CEO, Varsamidis will assume broader responsibility for the company’s operational and commercial activities, including its port and logistics network.
Yuvraj Narayan, Group CEO of DP World, said the appointment would provide leadership continuity while maintaining the company’s focus on its regional strategic priorities.
Regional leadership transition takes effect
The appointment comes as DP World continues to develop its integrated logistics activities alongside its established ports and terminals businesses across Asia Pacific.
In his new position, Varsamidis will work with regional management teams on operational performance, supply chain integration and customer services.
The company has not announced a replacement for Varsamidis as Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer.
According to DP World, arrangements for the regional CFO position will be communicated separately.
