Volvo Trucks has received an order for 500 gas-powered heavy-duty trucks from German transport company Reinert Logistics, marking a significant expansion of the operator’s fleet.

The order covers Volvo FH Aero trucks designed to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) or liquefied biogas (bio-LNG). Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.

According to Volvo Trucks, the agreement represents its largest order to date for gas-powered trucks, reflecting continued investment in alternative-fuel vehicles for commercial road transport.

The vehicles will be deployed by Reinert Logistics, a German logistics and transport operator, as part of its fleet operations.

## Reinert Logistics expands alternative-fuel fleet

The agreement follows Reinert Logistics’ operation of an initial fleet of 50 Volvo gas-powered trucks. According to Volvo, the company’s experience with these vehicles and fuel costs influenced its decision to place the additional order.

The contract was signed at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, Germany. René Reinert, founder and owner of Reinert Logistics, identified the availability of locally produced bio-LNG and the vehicles’ operational performance as factors behind the company’s investment.

Volvo’s gas-powered trucks use engines capable of operating on conventional LNG or bio-LNG produced from organic waste and other biological materials. The manufacturer states that the vehicles can travel up to 1,000 kilometres on a single tank, depending on operating conditions.

Volvo Trucks has delivered more than 10,000 gas-powered trucks worldwide. The technology is available across its Volvo FM, FH and FH Aero heavy-duty ranges.

The company reported that 2025 was its strongest year for gas-powered truck sales and expects further growth in 2026.
