Viking Line and TT-Line have announced plans to introduce a new ferry service connecting Vuosaari in Helsinki with Muuga near Tallinn, strengthening freight and passenger transport links between Finland and Estonia.

The service will be operated by the *Huckleberry Finn*, a Ro-Ro passenger vessel jointly owned by the two shipping companies. Operations are scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2027 under a Joint Operation Agreement between Viking Line and TT-Line.

The partnership is intended to develop long-term transport capacity across the Gulf of Finland, complementing existing ferry connections between the two countries. The companies aim to combine their operational experience and market knowledge to serve freight customers and passengers using the Vuosaari–Muuga corridor.

The *Huckleberry Finn* has a freight capacity of 2,240 lane metres and can accommodate up to 400 passengers. The vessel is 177 metres long and 26 metres wide, with Finnish-Swedish ice class 1A, allowing it to operate in winter conditions in the Baltic Sea.

Built in 1988 at the Schichau Seebeckwerft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, the vessel underwent subsequent modernisation in 1993 and 2001. Its deployment will provide additional Ro-Ro capacity on the route, serving cargo movements and passenger traffic between the Finnish and Estonian markets.

“Huckleberry Finn provides us with an excellent foundation for the long-term development of traffic between Vuosaari and Muuga,” said Marcus Risberg, CEO of Viking Line.

The company said the new operation reflects continued demand for reliable transport connections between Finland and Estonia, particularly among customers requiring dependable freight capacity and regular maritime services.

Harri Tamminen, Freight Director at Viking Line, emphasised that capacity and operational reliability remain important considerations for customers using the corridor. The new service is expected to strengthen the companies’ ability to meet existing and future transport requirements.

The announcement did not specify the sailing frequency, timetable or freight and passenger tariffs for the new route. Further operational details are expected ahead of the planned launch in early 2027.
