United Cargo transported more than 2.2 million pounds of influenza vaccines from Brussels to the United States between June and September 2026, supporting the distribution of temperature-sensitive medical shipments ahead of the flu season.

According to the company, the shipments were transported to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), using its TempControl service for temperature-sensitive cargo.

The operation involved the movement of pharmaceutical products requiring controlled handling conditions during transportation. United Cargo said the shipments were intended to help connect healthcare providers with vaccine supplies during the seasonal vaccination period.

TempControl is the airline’s specialised temperature-management service for pharmaceuticals, vaccines and other sensitive commodities. It supports shipments requiring defined temperature conditions and provides specialised handling throughout the transportation process.

The service covers three principal temperature categories: controlled room temperature between 15°C and 25°C, cool shipments between 2°C and 8°C, and frozen shipments at 0°C or below. It also incorporates proactive monitoring and handling procedures designed to limit exposure during aircraft loading and unloading.

United Cargo operates TempControl capabilities across more than 100 airport stations worldwide, with dedicated personnel overseeing temperature-sensitive shipments and a central support team providing around-the-clock assistance.

The vaccine movements between Brussels and the two US airports represent a substantial volume of pharmaceutical air freight handled by the airline during the four-month period.

The announcement highlights United Cargo’s continuing involvement in the transportation of healthcare products through its international air freight network.
