Subsea7 has been awarded a substantial contract by Aker BP for the Lyra field development in the northern North Sea, offshore Norway, covering the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of subsea pipelines and associated infrastructure.

The contract is valued between US$150 million and US$300 million under Subsea7’s classification of substantial awards. The project, previously known as Kjøttkake, is located approximately 44 kilometres from the existing Gjøa platform and will be connected to the facility through infrastructure associated with the NOVA field.

Subsea7’s scope includes the delivery and installation of gas lift and production pipelines, together with the subsea infrastructure required to support the development. The production pipeline will incorporate a pipe-in-pipe design, while offshore installation activities will be undertaken using vessels from the company’s fleet.

Project management and engineering work will begin immediately at Subsea7’s Stavanger office in Norway. Pipeline fabrication will be carried out at the company’s spool base in Vigra, with offshore operations scheduled across 2026, 2027 and 2028.

The Lyra project is being developed on an accelerated schedule, with first oil targeted for 2028, approximately three years after the field’s discovery. To support the timetable, Subsea7 received a pre-commitment from Aker BP in December 2025 covering critical equipment with long procurement lead times.

The development is being delivered through the Aker BP Subsea Alliance, a partnership between Aker BP, Subsea7 and OneSubsea. The arrangement brings together the companies’ engineering, subsea equipment and offshore installation capabilities.

“From securing long-lead items to mobilising engineering, fabrication and offshore resources, this award demonstrates Subsea7’s ability to deliver first production at exceptional speed,” said Erik Femsteinevik, Vice President Norway at Subsea7.

The contract adds to Subsea7’s portfolio of offshore energy infrastructure projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, where subsea tiebacks allow new developments to connect to existing production facilities rather than requiring entirely new offshore platforms.

The company has not disclosed the precise contract value or identified the individual vessels that will undertake the offshore installation campaign.
