Natalia Margioli has become the first woman and the first Greek national to serve as President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), marking a milestone in the organisation’s 115-year history.

The leadership transition was formally announced during the Institute’s Controlling Council meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, where outgoing President Punit Oza handed over the position to Margioli.

Margioli previously served as Vice President of the Institute, a role she assumed in 2024. She has extensive experience in the maritime industry and shipping education and has been Founder and Managing Director of the Hellenic Management Centre since 1999.

Commenting on her appointment, Margioli said becoming the first woman and first Greek President was a milestone she was proud to achieve.

“Looking ahead, my priority is to build on our excellence in maritime education, strengthen the value of ICS membership, bring our international Branches closer together and further develop our connections with the shipping industry,” she said.

The Institute also elected Jeffrey Blum as its new Vice President for a two-year term. He will support Margioli during her presidency.

Outgoing President Punit Oza welcomed the appointment, highlighting Margioli’s longstanding involvement with the Institute and her contribution to its activities.

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is an international professional body serving the commercial shipping industry, with activities focused on maritime education, professional qualifications and membership development.
