FedEx Dataworks and Stripe have announced a long-term partnership to develop financial and payment solutions for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), combining logistics information from the FedEx network with Stripe’s financial infrastructure.

Announced on 6 October 2026, the FedEx Stripe partnership will initially focus on expanding access to business financing and introducing additional payment options for FedEx customers.

The companies expect to launch their first joint solution in early 2027. The planned initiative will use operational information, including shipping activity and fulfilment performance, to support financing assessments through Stripe Capital.

Separately, FedEx plans to integrate Stripe into its payment processing operations, adding more than 50 payment methods to its checkout systems.

## FedEx Stripe partnership targets business financing

One of the main objectives of the collaboration is to develop financing solutions that take account of how businesses operate within supply chains.

Traditional financing assessments often rely on financial statements, banking records and credit scores. However, these methods may not fully reflect the operational activity of businesses that depend heavily on logistics and shipping.

FedEx Dataworks and Stripe intend to address this by incorporating supply chain information into financing assessments.

Under the proposed arrangement, Stripe Capital will use operational signals from FedEx Dataworks to help evaluate financing applications from eligible small and medium-sized businesses.

These signals may include shipment activity, inventory movements and fulfilment performance.

The companies believe such information could provide additional insight into business operations and support more tailored financing decisions.

According to the announcement, the initiative is intended to expand financing access for tens of thousands of SMBs.

However, the companies have not disclosed specific funding amounts, financing terms or eligibility requirements for the planned service.

The first joint solution is expected to become available in early 2027, although no precise launch date has been announced.

## More payment methods for FedEx customers

Beyond financing, the FedEx Stripe partnership will also involve changes to the payment options available through FedEx.

The logistics company plans to introduce Stripe as an additional payment processing option, allowing customers to access more than 50 new payment methods during checkout.

The integration is intended to support customers in different markets by offering a wider selection of local payment methods.

For businesses involved in international shipping, payment preferences can vary across countries and regions. The planned integration is designed to accommodate these differences within FedEx’s checkout process.

The announcement does not specify which payment methods will be introduced or provide a detailed implementation schedule.

It also does not indicate whether the additional options will become available simultaneously across all markets.

The payment processing arrangement represents a separate element of the wider collaboration, alongside the planned financing initiative.

## Supply chain data to support financial services

The collaboration brings together FedEx Dataworks’ logistics information and Stripe’s financial technology infrastructure.

FedEx Dataworks operates within the broader FedEx organisation, using information generated through the company’s transportation and logistics network.

Stripe provides payment processing and financial services, including Stripe Capital, which is expected to play a central role in the proposed financing solution.

The companies plan to use these capabilities to explore how operational data can contribute to financial decision-making.

Vishal Talwar, executive vice president, chief digital and information officer of FedEx Corp. and president of FedEx Dataworks, highlighted the scale of the logistics network involved.

“Every day, FedEx helps move more than $2 trillion in global commerce, giving us unique visibility into how businesses operate,” said Talwar.

John Collison, co-founder and president of Stripe, also outlined the potential application of shipping information to financing decisions.

“Together, we can turn the operational momentum of a small business, like shipping a thousand packages a week, into access to growth finance through Stripe Capital,” said Collison.

The proposed approach would introduce an additional source of information into financing assessments, rather than relying exclusively on conventional financial indicators.

Nevertheless, the announcement does not provide details about how the operational data will be evaluated or what information-sharing arrangements will govern the process.

## First joint solution expected in 2027

The initial financing product is scheduled for launch in early 2027, marking the first planned commercial development under the agreement.

FedEx Dataworks and Stripe also intend to explore further applications of logistics information and financial infrastructure as their collaboration develops.

According to the companies, these capabilities could eventually be extended to address the requirements of larger enterprises operating across international markets.

For now, the announced plans focus on two areas: financing access for small and medium-sized businesses and additional payment options for FedEx customers.

The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of their partnership or announced a specific timetable for subsequent products.

The extent of the collaboration’s commercial impact will depend on the implementation and adoption of the services currently under development.
