Capital Tankers Corp. has taken delivery of a new LNG-capable Suezmax tanker and disclosed financing arrangements totalling approximately US$930.3 million for 11 very large crude carriers (VLCCs) under construction in South Korea and China.

The company announced the delivery of the M/T Amor on 20 October 2026, bringing its operating fleet to 17 tankers. The financing arrangements were concluded between 29 September and 12 October 2026 and support vessels scheduled for delivery during 2027 and 2028.

The M/T Amor, built by China’s New Times Shipbuilding, has a deadweight capacity of 155,348 tonnes and is equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system. The vessel is also capable of operating on LNG as an alternative fuel. With its addition, Capital Tankers’ active fleet comprises one VLCC, eight Suezmax, four Aframax and four LR2 tankers.

## Financing arrangements cover 11 VLCC newbuildings

According to the company’s [official announcement](https://mfn.se/a/capital-tankers/capital-tankers-corp-announces-the-successful-delivery-of-a-dual-fuel-suezmax-tanker-and-new-financing-arrangements), the first financing arrangement was concluded on 29 September for three 320,000 dwt VLCCs under construction at Hanwha Ocean in South Korea. The vessels, Alterego II, Alexandros II and Apollonas II, are scheduled for delivery in 2027. Expected financing amounts are US$81.3 million for each of the first two vessels and US$79.2 million for the third, representing a combined US$241.8 million.

On 9 October, Capital Tankers entered into financing arrangements for three additional VLCCs being built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. in China. The 307,000 dwt Amfitrion II, Alexander the Great II and Anemos II are expected to be delivered in 2027, with anticipated financing of US$90.9 million, US$90.9 million and US$89.6 million, respectively. These arrangements represent a combined US$271.4 million.

A further agreement followed on 10 October for two other 307,000 dwt VLCCs at the same Chinese shipyard. The Akadimos and Amyntas II are scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028, respectively, with expected financing of US$89.6 million per vessel. Together, these arrangements account for US$179.2 million.

The final financing arrangement was concluded on 12 October for three 306,000 dwt VLCCs being constructed at Hengli Shipbuilding in Dalian. The Aspidoforos, Armonikos and Aftarkis are expected to be delivered in 2027, with anticipated financing of US$79.3 million per vessel, or US$237.9 million in total. All three vessels will be equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems.

Across the four groups, the expected financing amounts total US$930.3 million. The agreements include scheduled quarterly repayments and final balloon payments, with repayment structures varying between the vessels. The company did not identify the financing counterparties in its announcement or state that the full amount had already been drawn.

## Tanker fleet scheduled to reach 33 vessels

Capital Tankers also outlined the financing structure associated with the newly delivered M/T Amor. The vessel was partly financed through a US$64.5 million sale-and-leaseback arrangement, with repayment structured around 28 quarterly instalments of US$900,000 and a final balloon payment of US$40 million due in October 2033.

Following the latest delivery, the company expects to receive another ten vessels through 2027 and six more by mid-2028. Upon completion of these scheduled deliveries, its fleet would comprise 33 tankers, including 15 VLCCs, ten Suezmax and eight Aframax/LR2 vessels.

Of the 33 vessels, 23 are described by the company as either LNG dual-fuel ready or LNG dual-fuel capable. Capital Tankers also holds acquisition options for 13 additional crude oil tankers, which remain separate from its existing fleet and confirmed newbuilding programme.
