[BNSF Railway](https://www.bnsf.com/)and Spearpoint Logistics have formed a strategic partnership that will bring warehousing and transportation operations to the Barstow International Gateway in Southern California.

Under the agreement, Spearpoint Logistics will establish operations at the inland intermodal facility, known as BIG, with a focus on freight moving from Asia and Mexico through Southern California to destinations across the United States.

The logistics company specialises in heavyweight loads and will provide warehousing, distribution, transportation and brokerage services at the site.

## Spearpoint to establish operations at BIG

The partnership will combine Spearpoint’s warehousing and heavyweight cross-docking capabilities with access to BNSF’s rail network.

BNSF is developing the Barstow International Gateway as an inland facility for international freight entering through Southern California gateways. The project is intended to transfer more cargo onto rail for onward movement through the company’s network.

“Spearpoint’s expertise in warehousing, heavyweight cross-docking and transportation solutions directly complements the capabilities we are building at BIG,” said Jon Gabriel, Group Vice President of Consumer Products at BNSF.

He added that bringing logistics providers and rail operations together at the same location would give customers additional options for managing their supply chains.

## Inland logistics platform targets international freight

Spearpoint Chief Executive Officer Richard Miller said the Barstow International Gateway would provide an inland platform for moving freight from ports to destinations across the country.

“By combining Spearpoint’s expertise with BNSF’s rail network, we will create a seamless flow of goods from Asia and Mexico into inland markets,” Miller said.

According to the companies, Spearpoint’s presence at BIG will provide customers with access to multiple logistics services at a single location.

The partnership follows a co-location model already used at BNSF’s Alliance, Texas Logistics Park, where logistics providers operate alongside rail infrastructure.
