# ASRY completes delivery of bunker vessels to Bapco Refining

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has completed the construction and delivery of two self-propelled bunker vessels to Bapco Refining, a subsidiary of Bapco Energies, marking the conclusion of a shipbuilding project in Bahrain.

The delivery was formalised during an official ceremony attended by representatives of Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, senior executives from ASRY and Bapco Refining, and other project stakeholders. The event included the signing of the Protocol of Delivery by Sayed Mahmood Al Matooq, Executive Vice President of Technical Services and Engineering at Bapco Refining, and Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, Chief Executive Officer of ASRY.

The handover follows the completion of the vessels’ construction, outfitting, commissioning and technical testing. According to ASRY, both vessels have completed the required performance trials and training stages, reaching operational readiness ahead of their official delivery.

## Shipbuilding project reaches final delivery stage

The project involved the design, engineering and construction of two self-propelled bunker vessels, followed by their launch and subsequent preparation for operational service.

After entering the water, the vessels underwent outfitting and commissioning activities, technical assessments and performance trials. Training was also carried out as part of the process leading to final acceptance and delivery.

During the ceremony, representatives reviewed the project’s development through a presentation covering its principal milestones. Attendees also visited one of the completed vessels to examine its operational systems and capabilities.

The completion of these stages marks the transition from construction and testing to formal handover to Bapco Refining.

## ASRY strengthens shipbuilding capabilities

Commenting on the delivery, Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, CEO of ASRY, said the project demonstrated the shipyard’s ability to manage marine construction activities from their initial engineering stages through to completion and operational readiness.

“The final delivery of the two vessels marks an important milestone in the journey of this project and demonstrates ASRY’s capability to execute and manage integrated marine construction projects across their various stages,” Al Abri said.

He also acknowledged the work of the shipyard’s teams and the cooperation with Bapco Refining and other participants throughout the project.

The delivery adds to ASRY’s shipbuilding activities alongside its established operations in ship repair and marine and industrial projects. For Bapco Refining, the handover represents the completion of the contracted vessel construction programme.

The companies have not disclosed additional technical specifications, vessel capacities or the financial value of the project in the announcement.
