The Saudi cruise ship *Aroya* arrived at the Port of Alexandria on 26 October as part of its 2026 Mediterranean cruise programme, carrying 1,102 passengers and 1,035 crew members.

According to the Alexandria Port Authority, the vessel’s latest visit followed an event held on 20 October to mark the launch of its Mediterranean cruise season. The programme involves cooperation between Egyptian maritime and tourism authorities and Cruise Saudi, supporting cruise operations through the Egyptian port.

The arrival brought a total of 2,137 passengers and crew to Alexandria. Port authorities coordinated the vessel’s arrival and passenger movements with the relevant agencies, providing operational assistance and facilities to support the port call.

## Alexandria supports Aroya’s Mediterranean operations

The Alexandria Port Authority said the vessel received marine assistance through tugboats, pilot boats and monitoring from the port’s radar guidance tower.

These services formed part of the arrangements for handling the cruise ship and coordinating passenger movements while maintaining navigational safety.

The port has also highlighted its role in supporting cruise embarkation and disembarkation activities, alongside wider efforts to develop Alexandria as a destination for international cruise operators.

The latest call follows the 20 October ceremony attended by representatives of Egypt’s Ministry of Transport, the Alexandria Governorate, the maritime transport sector, Cruise Saudi and other organisations involved in tourism and shipping.

Diplomatic representatives from Saudi Arabia and Türkiye also attended the event, which marked the beginning of the vessel’s Mediterranean programme for 2026.

The port authority identified cooperation with Cruise Saudi and shipping agency Rhapsody as part of the operational arrangements supporting the vessel’s activities.

## Cruise Saudi outlines potential fleet expansion

During the season launch event, company representatives also referred to plans to introduce another cruise ship to the fleet in the future.

The announcement did not identify a vessel, shipyard, delivery schedule or confirmed construction contract. The potential addition therefore remains a stated development plan rather than a firm fleet order.

The *Aroya* programme forms part of Cruise Saudi’s activities in the regional cruise market, with Alexandria serving as one of the ports supporting the vessel’s Mediterranean operations.

For the Alexandria Port Authority, the continuing calls provide opportunities to accommodate international cruise passengers and support the services associated with cruise ship arrivals.

The authority said it would continue coordinating with maritime and tourism stakeholders to facilitate cruise operations and support Alexandria’s position within Mediterranean cruise itineraries.
