Greek gas shipping company Alpha Gas has listed two VLGC/VLAC newbuildings at China’s Hengli shipyard in its official fleet portfolio, with both vessels scheduled for completion in 2029.

According to the company’s [official fleet information](https://alphagas-sa.com/en/fleet), the two vessels will each have a cargo capacity of 88,000 cubic metres. They are identified by their shipyard hull numbers, HL-G88K-4 and HL-G88K-5, and are classified as Very Large Gas Carriers/Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLGC/VLAC).

The company’s fleet listing confirms the shipyard, vessel capacities and planned construction year. However, it does not specify when the shipbuilding contracts were signed, the financial value of the vessels or their expected delivery dates within 2029. The propulsion systems and future employment arrangements have also not been disclosed.

## Alpha Gas outlines wider gas carrier fleet programme

The Hengli-built vessels form part of Alpha Gas’s wider fleet portfolio, which includes both LNG carriers and vessels designed for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas and ammonia.

The company’s official fleet listing also identifies two VLGC/VLAC vessels scheduled for 2027, with capacities of 93,000 and 88,000 cubic metres. These are associated with Hanwha Ocean and Hyundai Heavy Industries, respectively. The portfolio additionally includes two 174,000-cubic-metre LNG carriers at Hanwha Ocean, listed for construction in 2029.

Alpha Gas’s existing fleet includes LNG carriers constructed at South Korean shipyards, alongside gas carriers listed with construction years of 2026. Its fleet portfolio therefore covers several vessel sizes and gas transportation segments, with further vessels scheduled for construction through 2029.

The inclusion of the two Hengli VLGC/VLAC vessels confirms their presence in Alpha Gas’s published fleet programme. Any assessment of the commercial terms or precise timing of the underlying shipbuilding agreements would require additional official disclosure.
